The problem with these About Us pages is that they often recede into a page below the fold, an afterthought upon a brief link at the bottom of a Web site that just leads off to some hastily written sentences about the company. What an about page should be instead is a strong sales page, one which specifically focuses on what makes your company so unique, making an impression on interested customers as soon as they reach your Web site. To get this done, you need a clear call to action. Here's what you need to include on your about us page:
a. Use strong headlines. Your About Us page is not an opportunity for you to talk about yourself - not unless you want to talk about yourself! In fact, a good headline is the single most important element of a good About Us page design, both for search engine rankings and for generating interest. Make sure you choose your keywords carefully, coming up with a list of them that clearly defines the kind of thing you're talking about.
b. Include a clear photo of the person who will be most interested in your About Us page. Remember, people visit Web sites to learn about people, not products.
